Weekly Turtle Races
A cherished tradition for over six decades, the Nisswa Turtle Races are back for their 63rd year. Every Wednesday from June 3 to August 12, families gather behind the Nisswa Chamber of Commerce building to participate in this fun-filled event. Registration begins at 1:00 pm, with races starting at 2:00 pm. For a $5 fee, participants receive an official 2026 racing button and the use of a turtle. Please note that bringing your own turtle is not permitted due to state regulations.
Freedom Day Celebrations
On Friday, July 3, Nisswa will host its annual Freedom Day festivities, celebrating America’s 250th birthday. The day is packed with activities, including live music, food vendors, and more. The highlight is the Freedom Days parade at 7:00 pm along Main Street, featuring floats, marching bands, veterans’ groups, and local organizations. It’s a celebration that embodies the spirit of our community.
Nisswa Firecracker Run
Kick off your Independence Day with the Nisswa Firecracker Run on Saturday, July 4. This event offers 10K and 5K races, as well as a Kidz Run, making it perfect for runners of all ages and skill levels. Participants can look forward to a comfortable event shirt, a complimentary beer, and a crawfish boil. The 10K starts at 8:00 am, followed by the 5K at 8:08 am. Early registration is recommended, as spots are limited to 2,000 participants.
End of Summer Luau
As summer winds down, join us for the End of Summer Luau on Sunday, September 6, at the Grand View Lodge Spa and Golf Resort. From 12:00 pm to 3:00 pm, enjoy tropical vibes, delicious food, and live music by Minnesota’s own GB Leighton. Don your grass skirts and Hawaiian shirts for this festive beachside celebration.
